.. enuf not to be able to play the cricket match this week, on Saturday. My Captain emailed us with the playing 11, and I am there to play against Hunters, considered one of the best teams in the league. But, unfortunately, I might not be able to make this match, as I have to take care of something else. I informed my captain of the same, and I am awaiting for his response. Hope he doesn't mind, and would consider me in the same way as he does now, while selecting the team :), for future games.
I wish my team all the luck, and I hope they does well.

Tech discussion with Mallik
It's 1:30AM, and I am on phone with Mallik right now. Rather unbelievingly, we discussed some technical details, about AJAX, some Unix commands et al. He gave me some fundas about those, and I couldn't understand. It could be because I haven't worked with those before, but I believe it's mainly because Mallik gave fundas :D.
Then, we discussed about Camry/Honda cars. He was criticizing some features in cars back in India, like Cruise option et al. Then our topic switched to movies and Craigslist :D.
Mallik is quite amazing, not in the sense as if he is some geek :D, but the sense of humor and his presentation is quite unique.
Well, enuf of enuf abt Mallik ... I need wrap up the call (I put him on hold right now) and sleep.
Gud nyt for now ...

Bengals Vs Boyds ... We won :)
We played Boyds team last week (06/24/2007), and they had a decent season till then. They won against Fighters who are considered one of the better teams in the league.
Boyds batted first, and they were all out for 101 in 29.1 overs (the match was played for 40 overs) and we chased the target losing 4 wickets, in exactly 12 overs. Our top-order played aggressively and we wrapped up the match in a convincing fashion.
Anurag and Fahed bowled beautifully, to grab 5 and 2 wickets each respectively. I didnt had much success, as I picked no wickets, but was lauded for making the ball move around, troubling the batsmen. Anurag even sizzled with the bat scoring around 33. Raja scored some 33 and was unconquered. Everyone was happy with the performance, and in the match report, our captain Anurag mentioned specially about our fielding effort, which I thought was excellent.
Right now, our team is a blend of youth and experience, and in right proportions. We have 6-7 excellent fielders .. count me IN that list :D. We have excellent communication and body language between us, which I didnt see in many teams (I can say none in this league so far).
We dont have a game this week end, and I really feel bored w/out playing any game. We have a practice game scheduled today (Sunday), but I am not playing as I have to meet our good family friend Ravibabu gaaru. Even then, there are, I think, 14 members playing in this practice game. I am planning to goto the ground, and stay with the team for sometime and then go meet Ravibabu gaaru later in the evening.
Well, will keep you updated ....

Cricket at Washington DC
It's been quite a while that I opened my blog to post something. The last time I remember is way back in Sep/Oct 2006. I dont know why, but suddenly today I thought to re-blog, if I can use that word :).
After moving to Maryland, I thought I might not find any league here to play cricket. I used to play on almost every weekend during the regular season in Chicago for Suburban Cricket Club. We also used to play, on almost everyday, in our University (NIU) during Summer. Luckily, I found that Washington DC has got well organized cricket league, and I joined a very competitive team, Bengals Cricket Club, truly an Asian team (except for the fact that we dont have any SriLankans in our team), with players from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The reason why I said "competitive" was, it's very difficult to make a cut into the playing 11, reason being everyone in the team (and, right now, I think our team has nearly 20+ players always looking for a place in playing 11) are on par with each other.
To cut a long story short, I feel pretty lucky to be in the playing 11 whenever I was available. So far I played 4 games, and I missed out 2. Our team is performing decently in the league with 4 wins, and 2 losses.
Will continue later .....
